This is a 3d printed planter that I've made called the 'Half-Hilbert Planter'.

A Hilbert Cube is essentially a cube that has been topologically analyzed. The idea is that you're looking for the different ways to fill in and outline a shape within the boundaries of a metric space, in this case a cube or an equidistant box.

In other words, think of the old Nokia game, 'Snake'. The snake operates within the confounds of a giant box, but within that box are many ways in which you can turn, and slither around. It's just like that. Making a shape without strictly sticking to the basic form of that shape.

That's pretty frequently what topology is about, the analysis of geometric shapes and spaces, topological manifolds, sometimes vector field manifolds and the like.



So anyways, this planter consists of 3 half-Hilbert Cubes, all connected to a planter on top, which also has 3 holes for hanging as well. This is all printed as one piece. It stands flat too so you have some options for orientation.

This piece truly is a mind bender, and sometimes when I look at this piece I have to just shake my head out of how absurd it all is. It looks crazy up close and in person, and it's pretty dense too so you're unlikely to break this one, barring some significant blunt force.

Post-processing on this piece is challenging so it takes some time to do, but the result is well worth it and this will make a fine addition to your collection or as a gift for a nerdy person in your life. If nothing else, it'll further your descent into mathematical madness.

Size is medium-shallow. About 6" diameter, about 3.5" Diameter.
Also not UV resistant so best not to overextend exposure in direct sunlight.
